Food & Nutrition

A positive approach

Our positive approach to healthy food, sociable mealtimes, balanced nutrition and varied, freshly prepared menus encourages healthy little minds and bodies.

We offer children a wide variety of flavours from menus that are nutritionally balanced. It doesn’t get any better than good old home-cooked food – and as the plates come back empty, the children must think so too.

Mealtimes

Mealtimes are enjoyable sociable occasions – happy, relaxed and a new opportunity to learn. The team sit with the children and lead by example; encouraging them to try new things, helping to serve and initiating conversation. With gentle encouragement, mealtimes are also when children’s natural curiosity for exploring new concepts will be extended to introduce new tastes and textures with their friends.

Nutrition

Our nutritionally balanced food is freshly prepared on site by the team, who minimise the use of sugar and other additives, never add salt, serves a minimum of four portions of fruit and veg each day, and uses local suppliers whenever possible.

Our Menus

Our menus are healthy, well balanced and rotated regularly. We devise varied menu plans each season which reflect diverse cultures to broaden children’s experience of the wider world.

At Pioneers Out of School Club we supply;

Breakfast: Usually toast, cereal and fresh fruit
Tea Time: Usually sandwiches & wraps, veg sticks, fruit and yoghurt

At Pioneers Holiday Club we supply;
